Never Ending Love for Nepal

October 2013 in Nepal: the country of never ending peace and love.

Nepal is rich with color. But for this collection, I was really drawn to my black & white versions because of the way they seem to help us better connect with the subject. I did, however, leave two photos in color to provide interesting contrast and a bit of splash.

I took a 2.5-week trip to Nepal to travel around with a close friend from graduate school. We spent time in and around Kathmandu, followed by Pokara where we did a 4-day mountain village trek, and then Damak, a small town in eastern Nepal. My friends lived in Damak; one taught at local schools and the other worked with Bhutanese refugees for the UNHCR.

I absolutely loved Nepal and its most gentle and genteel people. There’s something so unique, so intense, so pure about the people and culture of landlocked countries. Something I can’t quite pinpoint or articulate, just yet, anyway :)
